Lil’ Nog Returns at UFC 198

While this was originally supposed to be a Fight night event, this has now turned into a full blown PPV and part of this is due to the UFC wanting to keep UFC 200 for the predetermined date. That almost fell out due to UFC 197 being canceled earlier this year when the main event had to be called off due to the Heavyweight title fight participants being injured. It is only befitting that the heavyweight title fight is rumored to headline this card. Although, it is rumored that Stipe Miocic will face off with Fabricio Werdum for the strap. While that fight has not been announced there is the pivotal match ups between Jacare Souza and Vitor Belfort as well as Demian Maia and Matt Brown.

Now, there has been a big match up for the Light-Heavyweight division as well. Patrick Cummins is set to take on former PRIDE fighter Lil’ Nog. Patrick Cummins debuted in the UFC when he faced off with Daniel Cormier and was promptly dispatched in the first round. hat was his first professional loss. He followed that up with three straight wins with one finish in those three fights. Also, those two decision victories were the first of his career as his first five wins were by a finish. Unfortunately, his next fight out he ran into OSP and he suffered another first round knockout. Another win was followed by a second round TKO to Glover Teixeira and Cummins needs a win in this fight to prove he is more than a gatekeeper.

Nog comes into the fight with two straight losses over the last two years. Nog opened his UFC career with two wins, even though some people felt he should not have, but was defeated by Ryan Bader and Phil Davis in his next fights. He rebounded nicely with a TKO of Tito Ortiz and a win over Rashad Evans, who was ranked in the top five at the time. He luck was not to remain though as Anthony Johnson knocked him out in the first round and Mauricio Rua won  fight of the night rematch against him. Now, bot fighter swill be looking to rebound in a big way but only one will be able to. Who do you think that will be?
