Bruno was up 12-2 in the match before the fight ending choke. SUPER FEATHER – Robson Moura (Nova União) defeated Samuel Cruz (Gracie Barra) by advantages (4 to 2) Most of the match saw Robson on top attempting to pass guard. Samual got his advantages for some close knee bar attempts. FEATHER – Rubens Charles (Alliance) submitted Mario Reis (Gracie Barra) with a bow and arrow choke. Dominating performance from Rubens, who forced Reis to his half guard, passed and quickly secured the choke. LIGHT – Lucas Lepri (Alliance) submitted Michel Maia (Nova União) with a baseball bat choke. Lucas applies the choke from the half guard, the manages to free his leg and spin to north south to secure the finish. MIDDLE – André Galvão (Brasa) and Lucas Leite (Brasa) Split title. Technically Lucas Leite recieved the gold. MEDIUM HEAVY – Rômulo Barral (Gracie Barra) defeated Saulo Ribeiro (Gracie Humaitá) by 6 to 0 Romulo stop SAulo from gaining his seventh world title by two sweeps and a takedown. The legendary Saulo, classy as ever, acknowledged Romulo’s victory by raising his hand. HEAVY – Xande Ribeiro (Gracie Humaitá) defeated Roberto Tussa (Gracie Barra) with a choke from the mount. Xande quickly took Tussa down, passed guard to mount and secured the choke. SUPER HEAVY – Roger Gracie (Gracie Barra) submitted Robert Drysdale (Brasa) with a choke from the back Roger looked dominating as always. From the closed guard he managed to take the back of Drysdale and secured the choke for the tap out victory. SUPER SUPER HEAVY – Rafael Lovato Jr. (Gracie Humaitá) defeated Luiz Big Mac (Godói JJ) by judges’ decision. It was a last second oma plata/arm bar from Rafael to gain an advantage as time expires that secured the win, making Rafael only the second American to take gold at the black belt level since BJ Penn! Ladies Brown/Black Finals: In women’s action, Laurence Cousin, Michelle Nicolini, Emily Kwok, Penny Thomas, and Hannette Quadros (she went by Hannette Staack at ADCC) all won gold in their respective division. Michelle also took the Absolute title. All of her matches ended in submission. Laurence Cousin and Michelle Nicolini are both long time friends of OTM. Laurence is a Frenchie with many nicknames (most commonly known as “Lolo” and “FeeFee”), while Michelle is a black-belt and wife of Robert Drysdale. Much more to come!
