Rumble World Entertainment Announces Next Big Event Promoters decide to re-schedule November event and prepare for star-studded eight-man tournament in January
HONOLULU, HAWAI’I – Oct 27, 2005 Rumble World Entertainment, the organization behind Hawai‘i`s premiere Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event Rumble on the Rock (ROTR), have announced the rescheduling of their November 19th ROTR event. The next ROTR event will be held on January 20th at the Neal Blaisdell Center Arena in Honolulu.
According to J.D. Penn, president of RWE, “Due to unforseen circumstances we have decided to postpone our event until January 20th. We look forward to bringing another class-act ROTR event with the top MMA athletes to Honolulu fans,” he said. “ROTR 8 promises to be a card packed with some of the headlining athletes in the sport. This tournament will crown our first-ever Welterweight Grand Prix champion,” he said. Penn went on to comment that the postponement of the event is due in part to his desire to bring one of the best tournament cards yet into the ROTR cage.
The January 20th event, titled “ROTR 8 – World Championships” will feature an eight-man tournament of Welterweights who will compete to become the first ROTR Grand Prix champion. This will be the first tournament-style ROTR event RWE has done and promoters are confident that the format will be a success. The event will be held under MMA rules. Confirmed welterweight competitors include Brazilian sensation Renato “Charuto” Verissimo, former Shooto champion Jake Shields, Dennis “Superman” Hallman, and Chris “Lights Out” Lytle.
The event will also feature world-renown Polynesian entertainment group Malu Productions, known for their Snoop Dogg video performance on MTV as well as their performances with the NFL and the Hawai‘i International Film Festival. Malu Productions highlight the Polynesian dance styles of Tahiti, Hawaii, New Zealand, Tonga and Samoa.
