Fresh of his April 5th victory over Dokonjonosuke Mishima, Kenny Florian (picture right) immediately put his training back into high gear the following Monday.
A couple weeks later it was announced that Kenny would be fighting Alvin Robinson (9-1), a newcomer to the UFC, at UFC 73: Stacked on July 7th at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, CA.
As always Kenny has been working on incorporating new elements to his game.
Kru Mark will also be cornering Stephan Bonnar, who will be fighting in his first fight since August 2006. Bonnar will be taking on Mike Nickels in a preliminary fight. Earlier this year, Bonnar trained at the Sityodtong camp in Thailand.Patrick Cote Victorious at TKO 29: REPERCUSSION
Patrick Cote (picture: yellow shorts) became the new TKO Middleweight Champion with a first round submission win over Jason Day. Cote was able to take Day down and then unleashed some ground and pound until Day had enough and tapped out to end the fight.
Cote spent several weeks training at Sityodtong before the fight and Mark DellaGrotte was in his corner on fight night. The fight was held in front of 10,000 fans at Montreal’s Bell Centre. (transcript) In his Somerville gym Wednesday night, trainer Mark Dellagrotte worked out Pete Spratt, a top ultimate fighter on the televised pro circuit that has packed the house with a diverse array of customers hoping to master this melting pot of a sport.
“It’s almost like the American way of life,” Dellagrotte said.
“You can get everything in one spot, you can get boxing, grappling, striking and wrestling; combine it all into one and you’ve got mixed martial arts.”

WEC fighter Alex Karalexis (picture right) underwent a thorough workout at Sityodtong as part of a nine-city training tour promoting his June 3 lightweight match against Josh Smith at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Karalexis was victorious.
UFC fighter Pete Spratt trained at Sityodtong before his Ultimate Fight Night 10 fight. Although Spratt lost the fight, which was held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida, he continues to show improvement.
Marcus Davis Wins Big
Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis defeated Jason Tan via KO in Round 1, at the 1:15 mark at UFC 72. The fight was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Initally, Tan landed a few good leg kicks, but Davis, a former pro boxer, quickly responed and landed a devasting right hook that ended the fight.
