We would like to tell you a story about tragedy, willpower, strength, determination, loyalty and the love for the music. The story is about the the Brazilian band that will be coming – Paralamas Do Sucesso. It starts like this: The lead singer, Herbert Vianna was flying a two passenger airplane on the coast of Rio de Janeiro enjoying the beautiful scenic view with his wife who is from England. Sadly, the plane went down and had a terrible crash. Herbert was severly injured and his beloved wife was killed. She left her children behind. Herbert spent months in the hospital in a coma. The whole country was in shock and prayed for his recovery. He miraculously came back into consiousness with little memory left and was left paralized from the waist down. The doctors said that he would never play again. After mourning from the death of his wife, he found the inner strenght to carry on for his other love – MUSIC. He was! left recovering from his home in bed, but was determined to fight and struggle no matter what!! His loyal band members, who he had been together with since the begining, formed a music studio around his bedside to practice tunes over and over until the feeling came back! After all that time, they are now back together on tour with a more mature vision of life connected with music. The new cd has the perfect name of how they view the world. On tour with their new CD “Hoje” (Today). “Hoje” is their first CD released after Herbert Vianna’s comeback from his accident!
Herbert is now the head of a Brazilian campaign of “Never Give Up.” This story goes way further than the borders of Brazil. It is a story that can be used as inspiration for all people that doubt themselves. If you have determination and willpower, anyone can do anything!
For those that don’t know the poularity level of Paralamas,they are considered the U2 of Brazil and have been together for over 25 years!!They have released 12 albums in Brazil and 2 in Argentina. Some of thosealbums have reached over a million in sales each!
