Podcast #155 Return of Rafael Lovato Jr

OntheMat.com proudly presents the FightWorks Podcast! The top Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Grappling, and MMA Podcast on the Net!

www.thefightworkspodcast.comRafael Lovato Jr. is one of the United States’ most accomplished competitors in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has created a place where people smack in the middle of the United States can access elite, world class jiu-jitsu, far away from the traditional centers of expertise on the east and west coasts. How elite is Lovato Jr.? Here are a few of his recent successes:

* First place at the 2007 Jiu-Jitsu Mundials in the black belt super super heavyweight division after defeating Luiz “Big Mac” Teodoro. * First place at the 2008 Pan-Ams after an epic heavyweight battle against Gracie Barra dynamo Roberto “Tussa” Alencar * Second place at the 2008 Jiu-Jitsu Mundials in the super heavyweight division after defeating the likes of Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu.

Unfortunately Lovato Jr. was injured a week after the 2008 Mundials in a no-gi superfight in Hawaii against Falaniko Vitale, and has been sidelined until now. In this episode we catch up with Lovato Jr. and learn what his competition plans are for 2008!

kevin howellKevin Howell gearing up with Andre Galvao.

You want to know who I am jealous of? Let me count the ways I envy Kevin Howell. Kevin co-authored Jiu-Jitsu University with Saulo Ribeiro, has separate books on the way with Andre Galvao and Dave Camarillo, and works on projects like the 2008 Jiu-jitsu World Championships Finals DVD or Cobrinha’s brand new DVDs. In our conversation with Kevin we’ll hear about what it’s like to be involved in well, the projects that the rest of us dream about being involved in. Kevin is a brown belt in jiu-jitsu and trains under Leo Vieira and blogs at Community Jiu-Jitsu.
