OntheMat.com proudly presents the FightWorks Podcast! The top BJJ, Submission Grappling and MMA Podcast on the Net!

www.thefightworkspodcast.comBack in April we posted news about a movie underway that is based around Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which – no secret here- is basically our favorite thing to talk about on The FightWorks Podcast. The movie, titled Red Belt, was written and directed by David Mamet, an Oscar-nominated playwright and screenwriter.

With such an impressive engine behind the movie, we had to get to the bottom of this for you, as we know you’re just as curious about the film as we are! So, after several weeks of stalking, we were able to track down Renato Magno, a Los Angeles based Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who was a lead consultant on the project. You won’t be surprised to learn that he is David Mamet’s BJJ instructor! In this eighty-fourth episode of The FightWorks Podcast, we sat down with Magno and his colleague Rico Chiaparelli (who also is behind the Professional Submission League and gives ), and learned a lot about what BJJ enthusiasts can expect from the film. Rico also discusses the success of Fighter – A Documentary, which tells the story of Randy Couture’s early years as an MMA fighter.
