The rules will be two four minute founds, with a two minute overtime period. Takedowns are worth one point, mounts are worth one point, taking the back with hooks is worth one point. Submission attempts that must be vigorously defended are worth three points. All subs and slams will be legal.

One interesting point on the takedown attempts, is that pulling to guard which forces the opponent to his knees is considered a takedown. Rico Chiparelli’s philosophy is if I intented to bring you to the ground, and I brought you to the ground, then it’s a takedown. I’m not going to argue takedown points with him! LOL!

As far as encouraging submissions goes, the pay structure for these matches (and the pay is significant) is incentive based on winning, and submissions.

The Professional Submission League (PSL) is proud to announce L.A. SUB X, its inaugural submission wrestling event. L.A. SUB X will showcase the greatest submission artists of our time in an All Star line up of single matches. The show will bring hardcore grappling action to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Friday, May 26 at 7:30 PM.

Submission Wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. The PSL will feature thrilling throws, trips, takedowns, reversals, sweeps, escapes and SUBMISSIONS (including joint locks and chokes). No striking will be allowed in order to showcase the grappling skills of the athletes.

The sport of Submission Wrestling is one of the oldest sports in the world, and indigenous forms of wrestling can be found in every country and in every culture since the dawn of man. In fact, Wrestling was the first Olympic sport. The PSL will be a part of this ancient tradition.

On May 26, L.A. SUB X will debut as the ultimate event for submission wrestlers from around the world, including World and Olympic champion athletes from Austlalia, Brazil, Japan, Norway, Russia and the United States. Athletes will be drawn from the grappling sports of Judo, Brazilian Jujitsu, Sombo, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Freestyle Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts Fighting. Invited athletes will include only recognizedchampions in their sport.

The PSL is the latest project for Rico Chiappiarelli, a former World Cup and NCAA champion from the University of Iowa where he was the protetge oflegendary wrestling coach Dan Gable. Chiapparelli is no stranger to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as he was the world-renowned trainer of the now defunct RAW Team and its stable of international superstars, including former U.F.C. and PRIDE champion athletes Randy Couture, Frank Trigg, Vladamir Matyushenko, Tom Erikson, Matt Lindland, and Dan Henderson.

As Submissions Wrestling’s first truly professional event, L.A. SUB X will present a multiplicity of champions in a unique and exclusive event designed to entertain and excite the fans. Please mark your calendars today:
