Interview originally published on The New Full ContactME: What do you think of the incident that recently happened at the Pentagon Combat event in Rio, with your brother and Eugenio Tadeau?

RG: Eugenio’s fighters were crowded all around the ring so no one could see what they were doing. They were making sure Renzo wouldn’t win by kicking and punching him in the head every time he got close to the fence.

ME: How do you feel about Rio banning No Holds Barred events?

RG: People misunderstand what Rio is trying to do. Rio is not banning the events for good, Brazil likes this type of fighting very much. At Pentagon Combat there was no security. It is very dangerous to have a fight this big with no one to stop the fights outside of the ring. Rio wants this sport to stay organized instead going of underground. They are just trying to make sure there is proper security at these events, it’s not a ban.

ME: How is Renzo? I heard he was stabbed.

RG: He wasn’t stabbed, he’s fine. During the riot someone took something sharp, and scraped it on his back, it wasn’t a knife.

ME: You were signed to fight Tadeau at EFC 4 weren’t you?

RG: Yes

ME: Why didn’t you fight?

RG: He didn’t show up.

ME: What do you think of No Holds Barred fighting?

RG: I like it, I’m going to keep doing it.

ME: What do you think of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu stylist, Carlos Barreto in the same bracket with two wrestlers at UFC 15?

RG: Carlos Barreto is a strong, big guy and he is very good at Jiu-Jitsu. I think he will win.
