ROF 27 Full Fight Card !!

RING OF FIRE promoter Sven BOOGIE Bean has released the full card for the 27th edition of RING OF FIRE CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTING. The event dubbed “COLLISION COURSE” is aptly named. The main event features a match up between two of the most dominant 155lb fighters on the promotion’s roster.

Champion Alvin KID Robinson puts his belt on the line one more time as he faces Greco wrestler Rocky Johnson. Robinson recently had a short stint with the IFL, until a back injury pulled him from competition. He returns 100% physically and wants to show the fans exactly why he is undefeated in ROF competition. Robinson, a Royce Gracie brown belt brings a 7-1 record to the ring and has the distinction of acquiring all of his 7 wins by submission. Robinson’s BJJ is complimented by wrestling, a sport the young athlete participated in high school and college. He also utilizes a strong knowledge of boxing fundamentals to be a complete fighter. Johnson’s style has a foundation in Greco Roman wrestling. He has found a mentor and coach in World Champion fighter Clarence Thatch. Thatch is known for producing some of the best strikers in the region and has rounded out Johnson’s style. The combination has worked for the Elizabeth, CO fighter as he has compiled a 7-4 record along the way. Johnson moved in title contention after his last ROF appearance with a submission victory over Olympic judo competitor Ali Abdelaziz.

The event also marks the ROF debut of Canadian Mark The Machine Hominick. Hominick has terrorized the Canadian scene for the last few years becoming TKO World Champion an unprecedented 7 times. The TEAM TOMPKINS standout has amassed an impressive 12-5 record in MMA. He also is a two time UFC veteran racking up wins against Yves Edwards and Jorge Gurgel. Hominick’s style is based on his Muay Thai background in which he was also Canadian amateur champion. This could prove to be a great match up stylistically has his opponent is also a muay thai fighter. Team Janjira fighter, Douglas Edwards, hails from Wichita, Kansas. He has a respectable 4-2 MMA record. He is no stranger to competition where his double digit record earned him a fight against living legend Baxter “The One Armed Bandit” Humby. Edwards has worked his ground skills with MMA/Grappler Eric Payne, and currently holds a Blue Belt in BJJ. Edwards recently returned to Kansas after living in Atlanta where he trained with Manu N’toh. Combining the teachings of Janjira, N’Toh, and Payne has made him a very dangerous and versatile fighter. Edwards realizes that a victory here will jump start his career and feels confident that he matches very well with the Canadian.

ROF 27 also features the return of BJJ Black Belt Eliot Marshall. Marshall hails from Boulder, CO and is quite well known on the grappling circuit. He is a multiple champion in grappling and so far has transitioned well into MMA, remaining undefeated at 2-0. Marshall was originally scheduled to face Muay Thai world Champion Jeff Ford, but Ford withdrew from competition citing business conflicts. Calls were made to multiple camps looking for a replacement, and Muay Thai fighter Dan Green of American Fork, Utah agreed to the match. Green’s last appearance at ROF was under K-1 rules, where his victory earned him a spot at the K-1 USA show in Las Vegas. Green is a well conditioned athlete who has a very aggressive style. While he is veteran of over twenty K-1 style bouts, Green is making his MMA debut. The 205 lb division is one of the hottest and most lucrative in the industry and both fighters are trying to work their way in to the big leagues.

The ROF 27 card will also be highlighted by a K-1 Rules match. K-1 USA veteran Andre The Silencer Walker will compete against Australia’s Michael Monachy. Walker will need to shake any off ring rust qucikly as his opponent has cut his teeth on the ultra tough south pacific circuit.

Rounding out the feature bouts are matches at the 135 and 145 weight limits. South Dakota’s Clint Godfrey returns to ROF for a second time as he faces New Mexico fighter John THE MAGICIAN Dodson. Godfrey has the “work horse” mentality in the ring and is competent at all ranges. His fighting his reminiscent of a Pat Militech style and boasts a 5-1 record. His opponent can only be described as the Sakuraba of his division. Flips, spins, cartwheels and smiles are all part of Dodson’s arsenal. ROF boasts a super strong 135 division and the winner here will go on to face Nick Mamalis in February for the number one ranking.

If all of this weren’t enough the top two up and coming 145 lb fighters on the promotion’s roster will battle for the YOUNG GUNS Title belt. Boulder’s Tyler Toner will go head to head with Loveland’s Joey Jesser. Both fighters are undefeated at 4-0 and 3-0 respectively, and both fighter list BJJ as there base style. Toner is under the Renzo Gracie system, while Jesser flies the Royce Gracie banner. Both guys have what it takes to win, solid ground, solid stand up, and solid conditioning. This one will come down to who has the stronger will to win in one of the most evenly matched bouts in the promotion’s history.
