Sean Wilson replaces injured Lance Palmer against Nick Macias at RFA 3 on Saturday, June 30th

KEARNEY, Nebraska — Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) announced last month that four-time NCAA Division I All-American turned undefeated MMA fighter Lance "The Party" Palmer was set to make his promotional debut against promising Colorado-based fighter "Lightning" Nick Macias.

Unfortunately, the dreaded MMA injury bug has struck again, just two weeks before their scheduled main card bout at RFA 3 – Stevenson vs. Cochrane was set to take place. This time the injury bug has sidelined Palmer with an injury, which will prevent the former Ohio State star and TUF 15 (Team Faber) coach from participating at the event.

Fortunately, the RFA was quick to find Macias a replacement on the card. Macias will now face a nearly 50-fight veteran in Sean "P-Town" Wilson. Wilson is a Nebraska native that will bring a number of excited fans, as well as 32 career wins, with him to the fight. Wilson trains at Premier Combat Center with UFC veteran Ryan Jensen in Omaha, Nebraska and has won 8 of his last 9 bouts dating back to 2010.

Meanwhile, Macias who recently signed a 3-fight deal with the promotion, will now shift his focus from fighting a highly-decorared amateur wrestler to a true veteran of the sport. Macias trains out of FactoryX Muay Thai in nearby Colorado alongside UFC and TUF 11 alum Chris Camozzi. Camozzi is getting set to return to the UFC in 6 days. This has only intensified Macias’ training camp heading into his showdown with "P-Town".

This latest injury development just adds to a what has been turning into quite an epidemic. The MMA world has been infected with a rapidly spreading case of the injury bug this summer with Palmer-Macias added to the ever-growing list of canceled bouts. This contagion also saw the main card of UFC 146 get shuffled like a deck of cards on the Vegas strip and the main event of UFC 147 lose its highly-anticipated rematch of TUF – Brazil coaches Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfor when the latter of the two got injured.

UFC 148 and UFC 149 in July only got hit worse with the annual 4th of July weekend card in Las Vegas (UFC 148) losing its rubber match between TUF 15 coaches Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber due to a Cruz knee injury and the inaugural Calgary card (UFC 149) losing just about every main card match up that was originally planned. While the UFC was quick to replenish those cards with new bouts, the RFA has acted quickly as well. On paper, Macias vs. Wilson at 145-pounds looks to be all-action and a possible candidate for "Fight of the Night" on Saturday, June 30th.

Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) was founded in 2011 and includes a number of prominent businessmen, fight promoters, matchmakers, and others with successful careers in hosting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) shows across the United States.
