Tara LaRosa vs. Kelly Warren announced for RFA 2

KEARNEY, Nebraska — Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) announced this afternoon that Tara LaRosa, one of the best fighters in women’s MMA history will return to action later this month at RFA 2 – Yvel vs. Alexander. While it has been known for awhile that LaRosa had signed with the RFA promotion, finding someone woman enough to face her was a whole other story.

After seeing a few rumored opponents drop off the radar in recent weeks, the RFA made it official today via their Twitter account (www.Twitter.com/RFAfighting) that LaRosa will indeed be stepping into the cage on Friday, March 30th at RFA 2 against Midwest based fighter Kelly Warren.

The 27-year-old Lapeer, Michigan native Warren started her career with 3 straight wins. That earned her top billing in the main event for North American Allied Fight Series (NAAFS) this past November.  After tasting defeat for the first time that night to the highly-rated Irish fighter Aisling Daly at NAAFS – Night of Champions 2011, Warren would return to the NAAFS two and a half weeks ago to face another top opponent in Jessica Eye where she would drop a hard-fought decision. Daly and Eye are now set to rematch each other at Bellator 66 in April, while Warren prepares for an even bigger challenge in LaRosa.

Over LaRosa’s 10-year professional MMA career, she has amassed an incredible 20-2 record where she has stopped 14 of her opponents. She has also only lost once via Split Decision dating back to 2004. Beginning her career at bantamweight (135-pounds), LaRosa won world titles in the Ultimate Cage Wars (UCW) and BodogFight promotions before dropping down to her natural weight class at flyweight (125-pounds). At flyweight, LaRosa has never lost and  won the DaMMAge Fight League flyweight title.

LaRosa vs. Warren will be part of RFA 2’s main card, which will stream live via Sherdog.com on Friday, March 30th. The event will take place at the 5,000 seat Viaero Event Center in Kearney, Nebraska. The main event will feature two of the most feared strikers in the world, as Gilbert "The Hurricane" Yvel battles Houston "The Assassin" Alexander.

Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) was founded in 2011 and includes a number of prominent businessmen, fight promoters, matchmakers, and others with successful careers in hosting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) shows across the United States.
