U.S. Open Registration & Hotel Information

It’s that time of year again for “America’s Favorite Tournament” to shift into high gear, but first we’d like to thank everyone that participated in the U.S. Open XI last year and helped make it such a huge success.


Over the years the U.S. Open has become known as the event to attend if you want a high-quality, fair, organized, and friendly competition environment. The quality of the U.S. Open could not be sustained without the yearly participation of each and everyone of you. The tournament will take place October 20 & 21 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium in Santa Cruz, CA.


The competition is open to men and women of all belts in the following divisions:


* Junior (16-17 years) White and Blue Belts


* Adult (18 years and up) White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black Belts


* Master (30 years and up) White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black Belts


* Senior (40 years and up) White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black Belts


The first 50 people to register online will receive a free DVD from a previous U.S. Open Tournament!

Fresh off of his victory in the Black Belt Medium Heavy Division and Silver Medal performance in the Absolute at the Mundials, Romulo Barral and company have confirmed that Team Gracie Barra will defend their title as the U.S. Open Brown and Black Belt Team Challenge Champions.


The Question on everyone’s mind is will the ’05 champions Team Saulo Ribeiro (which included current World Champion Rafael Lavato Junior and ’07 Mundial Bronze Medalist Vincius Magalhaes) return to the compeitition to try and take the title back?


Or will some newcomers steal the title from these very tough contenders?


The winning team–the team that wins the most fights–will take home $3,000. In the event that there are more than two teams, the second place team will receive $500. Team registration will be $100. This Year’s Featured Charity2nd harvest food bank Second Harvest Food Bank. Bring non-Perishable items to the Tournament and Receive free previous U.S. Open DVD or T-shirt!


Each year the U.S. Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament donates 25% of ticket sales proceeds to a charity organizaiton. This year we will be supporting the Second Harvest Food Bank. By encouraging your friends and family to come to the event and pay the admission price to watch you compete, you will be helping fund this very worthy organization.
