UFC Fight Night 73 Predictions

UFC Fight Night 73 Predictions: Main Card

Glover Teixeira(22-4-0)(-130) vs. Ovince Saint Preux(18-6-0)(+106)

Teixeira seems to have wilted after getting his title shot while St. Preux is only getting better and better. His knockouts of Shogun and Cummins only added to his finishing streak in the UFC. Plus, he has truly learned from his loss to Bader. I think that spells doom for Teixeira who may not have the abilities to keep up anymore. St. Preux by TKO in the fourth round.

Michael Johnson(16-8-0)(-160) vs. Beneil Dariush(11-1-0)(+130)

Johnson has lost six of his eight losses by submission and now he is facing off with a highly trained ground tactician who has won over half of his fights by submission. That seems to make this fight a no brainer as long as Dariush sticks to the gameplan and accomplishes it. Johnson losses by submission in the second round.

Derek Brunson(13-3-0)(-210) vs. Sam Alvey(26-6-0)(+160)

Alvey has great striking and knockout power, but Derek Brunson is a more complete athlete. He can mix his striking with his takedowns and make Alvey hesitant to throw if he threatens with his ground game. He cannot finish Alvey but takes a unanimous decision victory.

Jared Rosholt(12-2-0)(-230) vs. Timothy Watson(9-1-0)(+170)

Watson is a finisher but Rosholt is a great wrestler and can grind him. Watson will make the first round interest, but will tire as the round drag on. That will leave an opening late in the third for Rosholt to TKO the UFC newcomer with ground and pound.

Chris Camozzi(21-10-0)(-175) vs. Tom Watson(17-8-0)(+135)

In a fight to keep their jobs, Camozzi takes on Watson in a fight that is pretty evenly matched. Of course, Watson may have the technical striking advantage, but Camozzi knows how to brawl.

UFC Fight Night 73 Predictions: Undercards

Uriah Hall(10-5-0)(-280) vs. Oluwale Bamgbose(5-0-0)(+200)

Hall is a late starter and that will not work against the powerhouse in Bamgbose who has knocked out everyone of his opponents really quick. Hall is just too inconsistent and that will not bode well fighting someone like Bamgbose.

Sara McMann(8-2-0)(-184) vs. Amanda Nunes(10-4-0)(+156)

McMann abandoned her wrestling, became tired, and lost to Miesha Tate even though she almost finished the fight by knockout in the first round. Nunes is a lot tougher not he feet than Nunes and can hold her own on the ground. In fact, her main issue is her cardio which if she can tire out McMann more will not be a problem. Look for Nunes to capture a TKO in the second round.

Dustin Ortiz(14-4-0)(-382) vs. Willie Gates(12-5-0)(+298)

Gate is tough for taking this fight, but he will not be able to compete with Ortiz’s wrestling and all around game. He is the more complete fighter and it will show in this fight as he wins by submission in the third round.
