UFC Fight Night 80 Matches to Make

Rose Namajuanas vs. Winner of Tecia Torres vs. Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger

Rose came through big on short notice and seems to have fixed her cardio problems by a dominate win through five rounds. Obviously, the champion is injured and Claudia Gadelha deserves the next title shot. Namajuanas needs at least one more win before fighting for the title again and a win over one of her losses would do a lot for her career. Torres would be the pefect fight for her, but she has to get past Lybarger first.

Paige VanZant vs. Maryna Moroz

Both of these fighters had big wins early in their UFC career, but their holes were exposed when they fought the upper tier at 115. Now, they need to rebuild, and to prove who really has a shot at a contender, let these two fight to prove who is the better young contender.

Michael Chiesa vs. Winner of Kevin Lee vs. Leonardo Santos

Chiesa pulled out his biggest win of his career with eh submission of Jim Miller. He should break into the top 15 of the division with the win and needs to fight someone that will help him climb the ladder. The winner of the Lee and Santos fight will be on a five or four fight win streak respectively and a fight between the two could produce a top ten fighter with the winner.

Sage Northcutt vs. Winner of Yancy Medeiros vs. John Makdessi

Yes, Sage is still young in his career, but he cannot keep fighting nobodies to bolster his record. That is what happens outside the UFC. Medeiros and Makdessi have not had the strongest records in the UFC, but they are both experienced and dangerous. Plus, we have seen both of these fighters go up agains the best of the division, and Northcutt’s performance will show whether or not he has the skill against someone who has the ability to fight back.

Thiago Santos vs. Chris Camozzi

Santos has won three straight after starting his career at 1-2. Camozzi picked up a win upon his return and as a gatekeeper he will be a good challenge for Santos.

Tim Means vs. Sergio Moraes

Moraes is now at 4-0 in the division with three finishes. Means is 5-1 with three finishes as well. Both are looking to crack the top 15 and challenge the top of the division and whoever comes out on top in a fight between the two could just do that.

Aljamian Sterling vs. Raphael Assuncao

Sterling proved to be a top fighter with his multiple wins, but his comments about not making enough money have hurt his career. It is very likely with a win tomorrow that Faber will get a title shot due to t being  money fight, but with four straight wins with three finishes, Sterling should be around the top contenders for a shot as well. Assuncao should be returning from injury soon and that makes a great fight.
