UFC on Fox 13 takes place on December 13th at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
UFC on Fox 13 has a rumored main event, but it just had a huge heavyweight fight announced that will most likely serve as the co-main event.
UFC on Fox 13 Announced Bouts
The rumored main event of the UFC on Fox 13 card is going to pit former heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos against rising heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic. This will mean that JDS will have sat out for over a year since his last defeat to current champion Cain Velasquez. Miocic was originally supposed to fight at UFC 173 in May but a hand injury took JDS out of the bout. Instead Miocic had to take on Fabio Maldonado which ended very quickly for his third straight win. If Miocic can get past JDS there is no way he can be denied a title shot.
Rumored Bouts
The co-main event will also take place north of 205 with Alistair Overeem probably making his last stand in the UFC. The former top five heavyweight promised a new Overeem against Ben Rothwell, but he was knocked out again which put him to 2-3 in the Octagon. He will be taking on Stefan Struve who makes a second attempt to return to fighting after a heart injury nearly retired him. It has been over a year and a half since Struve lost to Mark Hunt, but at only 26 he still has many years in front of him.
A Middleweight bout is in the cards too pitting Derek Brunson against the veteran in Ed Herman. Brunson’s only loss so far in the UFC is to top contender Yoel Romero, but he rebounded from that loss by wrestling Lorenz Larkin to the ground for three rounds straight. Since his return in 2011, Herman has gone 5-2 but has flip flopped losses and wins for the last four fights.
There are also two fights in the Lightweight division on this card so far. Jaime Varner returns after breaking his leg against James Krause in the first round, but he was tough as nails fighting through the whole round despite the injury. He takes on Drew Dober who has yet to win in the UFC with two straight losses. Also, Joe Ellenberger looks to go 2-0 in the Octagon after his win James Moontasri back in June. Now he takes on Bryan Barberena who is new to the UFC. Barberena is a training partner of Varner and Benson Henderson at the MMA Lab in Arizona. These are just a few intriguing fight lined up for UFC on Fox 13.
