Shocks and awes at UFC 132

A spectacular series of upsets and quick finishes contributed to an exciting night of fights as Saturday’s UFC 132 card played out.

In the prelims, Evolve MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Rafael dos Anjos delivered a brutal right hook to the jaw of fellow BJJ black belt George Sotiropoulous, knocking the fighter out. Later on, Tito Ortiz avenged his 5-year losing streak and simultaneously silenced odds makers when he defeated Ryan Bader with a guillotine in the first round. UFC veteran and beloved Brazilian fighter, Wanderlei Silva “The Axe Murderer” was knocked out by Chris Leben just shy of 30 seconds into the first round. (Side note, Wanderlei turned 35 on Sunday) And for the main event, after an exciting 5 rounds, Dominick Cruz was able to edge a win over Urijah Faber with a win by way of unanimous decision. The two bantamweight title contenders were later awarded fight of the night honors and a hefty bonus for their efforts.

Dana White said the fighter was immediately terminated from the organization.
