UFC 132: Prelims and Main card schedule, Countdown to UFC 132 on Spike TV; Highlights from today’s press conference

UFC 132 Press Conference Highlights

During today’s UFC 132 conference, Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber did not shy away from playing up the hype of their rivalry.

On a few occasions, Faber called out Cruz’s big head (referring to his ego) and later said both he and Cruz were “like minded people…we’re going to butt heads when it comes to the fight game and we’re going to see who is boss.” Dominick’s only loss is to the California Kid and has said he is motivated to avenge the loss.

Both of the bantamweight fighters also expressed their excitement and gratitude for their experiences in the WEC. Cruz called his time in the WEC organization as “life-changing” while Faber said that he’s glad there will no longer be any confusion with fans as to whether he is a real MMA fighter—noting that the UFC will bring more legitimacy to his history in MMA as well as the lighterweight classes.

Aside from the back and forth teasing between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, Tito Ortiz was on the defense during the conference. Ortiz addressed rumors over his pending fate in the UFC and how he’ll fare against Ryan Bade, who is fresh off of a 12 fight-winning streak. Ortiz addressed rumors that although the bets have been stacked against him for the fight, he’s confident he’ll be able to pull off a win. The veteran fighter said his years of experience in some of the best fight cards ever will give him an advantage. “All the pressure is on Ryan Bader; he’s not used the stature of my ground and pound,” he later added.

"I’m fighting for my life…I’m fighting for my career. I’m fighting for everything I stand for," said Ortiz.
